Shopping: The area closest for groceries and some small restaurants is Onalaska. It is about a 15-minute drive.

Hiking: Waterwood is host to some of the most beautiful nature walks and more are being developed all the time. Currently, there are more than 6 miles of marked trails. (Click here to view a map of The Waterwood Wildlife Trail)

Scooters & Bicycles: There is very little traffic and miles of paved roads through the woods to enjoy, so bring your bikes, skates and/or scooters.

Bird Watching: The deck of the Bay Hill Guest House provides a great opportunity for relaxed bird watching. For more serious birders, take the Waterwood Wildlife Trail. (Click here to learn more about the Waterwood Wildlife Trail)

Relaxing: Our guests consistently report this is the best part! There are few places left that are as peaceful as our area. Read a book or sit on the deck and soak up the peace and quiet. Waterwood is surrounded by 2,800 acres of protected lands with about 8 miles of protected shoreline, providing ample room for wildlife to flourish. You will likely see deer, great blue heron, cormorants, egrets and squirrels. You may even spot fox and bald eagles.
